Mr. Clyde Edward Ashley, 91, of Lancaster, widower of, Nellie Adams Ashley, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Atruim Health Carolinas Medical Center. He was born November 3,1932 in Lancaster, a son of the late Edward Ashley and Zelma Robinson Criminger Ashley.Mr. Ashley was an active and long-time member of Fork Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many terms through the years. He was a proud veteran who served as a soldier in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ashley was a Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Fork Hill Lodge. He retired from Springs Industries.A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Ashley will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Fork Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Walters and Rev. RB Ashley officiating. Burial will be in the Fork Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.Mr. Ashley is survived by his sons, Darren Ashley (Alice) of Heath Springs, Chipper Ashley (Patricia) of Salem, VA, and Montagu Ashley of Heath Springs; brother Rev. RB Ashley of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Donna, Brandon, Whitney, Brent, and Savannah; great-grandchildren, Keenan, Colby, Allie, Elijah, Emeri, Ezra, Laila, Dalton, Leeanah, Hialynn, and Addison. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Betty Ashley; five brothers, Earlie Criminger, Cletus Criminger, JC Criminger, Henry “Junior” Ashley, and Crawford Ashley; and six sisters, Inez Phillips, Francis Faulkenberry, Sudie Carpenter, Betty Rollings, Marcine Terry, and Katie Hernandez.The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Fork Hill Baptist Church.Memorial contributions may be made to Fork Hill Baptist Church, 1125 Fork Hill Rd.
